about

“Nucleus” reveals Lingua Lustra to be the master of their sonic universe, crafting an aural universe that teems with life. Various elements float in and out of the hazy, dazed mix always seemingly right beyond perception. The volume deserves to be blasted for these pieces are pure blissful beauties, whose geometry adds to their appeal. Over the course of the album certain themes emerge, the ebb and flow of the sound that helps to add to their overall appeal. Reminiscent of Future Sound of London’s “Lifeforms” the chillout room approach helps to give the songs a fresh, full-bodied approach. “Caravan To Utopia” opens the album on a somber note. Full of a sense of loss, the piece has a meditative presence to it, courtesy of the far-off percussive elements. Layer upon layer comes into the fray on the spirited scope of “Auriga (Edit)”. The woozy quality adds to the song’s intense energy, for the buildup feels particularly fine. Glistening drones make “Ethmosphaera” the highlight of the album, featuring a wide variety of textures coming together in a wonderful way. Echoing choirs add to the soothing presence of “Liquid Languid” (Re-edit)”. Field recordings lend “Holy Water” a mystical, tactile quality that helps to bring the whole of the piece together in a hypnotic fashion. Waves of sound wash over “Saturn” giving it a pastoral beauty. Post-rock influences emerge on the album’s highlight, closer, and title track “Nucleus”. Lingua Lustra does everything with the utmost of care and precision on the glowing soundscapes of “Nucleus”. Beach Sloth
