Lingua Lustra picks a soothing path to travel upon with the lovely layers of “Still Life”. Thoughtfully executed Lingua Lustra explores the whole sound spectrum, allowing for these two elongated drones to gain a tremendous amount of depth. Over the course of these two pieces entire universes are explored. Infinitely patient Lingua Lustra does not rush things rather lets them unfolds in a way that heightens the sense of majestic that radiates between the two. Containing an infinite amount of lightness, the whole of the album feels akin to traveling upon a fine mystical journey. By far the highlight of the two, “Living Light” opts for a soothing style. Full of bright light, the airiness of the work lends it an angelic glow. At first a hushed awe, gradually the piece comes fully into focus. Lingua Lustra allows for a unique sort of approach to come and define the track. Over the course of the journey a narrative of sorts begins to take shape while Lingua Lustra effortlessly sculpts the sound. Giving the sound room to roam works wonders for the whole of the piece radiates with an infinite calm. Far heavier on the bass rumbles the gigantic “Time Standing Still” goes for a similar yet slightly different approach. Much darker and more mysterious, Lingua Lustra lets feedback play a small yet significant role within “Time Standing Still”. On this piece Lingua Lustra strips layers away until all that is left are mere fragments of the original piece. With “Still Life” Lingua Lustra offers a brilliant exploration of texture and tone.
