“Obinmo” opts for an interstellar sound, one that proves Lingua Lustra to be a master of surfing soothing waves of ambient bliss. Akin to photography, the way the songs develop helps to put the melodic progression into focus. By opting for this loose approach to ambience, the tracks occasionally veer into classical and drone without committing to either. Every song builds off the last, allowing the album to mirror a majestic journey, one that embraces exploration to the absolute fullest. Cyclical with its many rhythms, the tracks come into bloom in unexpected yet satisfying ways. Aptly named “Intergalactic” begins this voyage. Growing ever larger in scope, everything simply feels so positively massive. Vocals drift by delicately on “Glimmer” for various sounds bounce and collide. Opting for a disorienting experience, nothing feels particularly static. With this nimbleness Lingua Lustra chooses to let the work sprawl out into the infinite. By far the highlight of the album comes with the hypnotic gentleness of the title track “Obinmo” which at times references a long-lost soundtrack sort of spirit. Drone reigns supreme on the grandeur of “A Flower To The Light”, where the way everything unfolds gives it an unknowably large scope. Hyperkinetic blurs and bursts of color come into the mix on “Innerscape”. Interestingly, Lingua Lustra ends things with heavy set beats on “Spiral”, allowing it a rather regal sort of dub techno aspect.
